The Real Thing

I have gotten to a place where if I cannot have what I really want, I’d just rather go without. What was interesting to me was that I never knew why. From dining out, to shoes, clothes or purses, once I got to experience the real thing, having just a copy or a cheap counterfeit of something was a big let down. It’s like going backwards.

I’ve seen people be more excited about a huge quantity of things rather than a few quality pieces. I’d rather have one or two nice watches than twenty cheap ones. I would rather have four or five nice purses than a closet full of easily to fall apart purses. You get where I am going? It’s not to say that I am not grateful or that I look at gifts others give me with my nose in the air. Gifts from peoples’ hearts are very valuable to me. I am not even saying that the most expensive is the best because it is not.

The word of God tells us to taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalms 34:8a

Having tasted of something means to truly experience it. If it is the real thing, you will be so dissatisfied to want or desire anything else. The Lord made us that way. He knew that if we allowed Him into our hearts that even if we strayed away, we would come back. Most of us have found out this truth the hard way. He is good. Nothing could ever truly fulfill us like He can. Why? He (His love) is the real thing.
