The Life That Only God Can Give

Living the kind of life that only God can give should be a desire for the believer. I think we still struggle with believing how beautiful of a life He wants to give us. Religion has caused us to focus on works. We believe we need to earn, deserve or merit God’s goodness. We believe that if we give Him full reign over our lives, He may send us to Africa, lol! (Ephesians 2:9)
For me, the first humbling step was to give up the right to live my life the way I thought I was capable. The Lord will not violate your will, so you must willingly say yes to His. Matthew 16:25 says, “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. (NLT)
One day the Lord asked me a question. It’s never because He doesn’t know the answer, lol! Sondria, if you could imagine the life you truly desire, what would that life look like? As I began to take the time to really think about it, it finally hit me. I was truly already living it. We can be so focused on the next best thing or what we don’t have, that we miss out on enjoying all that we do have. Thereby, assuming life isn’t all that grande.
The Lord wants to bless you with a life that you cannot give yourself. He wants to give you something no amount of money, education or title could ever give you. Everything God provides comes with rest, peace and joy. That’s truly life in abundance. (John 10:10). We should never struggle with believing God’s goodness toward us. For Romans 8:32 says, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all - how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (NIV)
